Richard S. Bedlack, MD, PhD, MS, is the Stewart, Hughes and Wendt Distinguished Professor and a Professor of Neurology at Duke University School of Medicine. He is also the Director of the Duke ALS Clinic and the Chief of Neurology at Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Bedlack specializes in the treatment of ALS, and his research focuses on clinical trials investigating new treatments for ALS, epidemiologic studies to better understand its causes and variability, and basic science studies to develop novel biomarkers. Dr. Bedlack also serves as leader of the international ALS Untangled program, which utilizes social networking to investigate alternative and off-label treatment options for ALS.
