Senator Bennett Offers ARNP Amendments
|
Senator Bennett has attempted to amend several bills this session. The amendments would remove restrictions on ARNP prescription of controlled substance and Optometrist's ability to prescribe oral medications relating to eye treatment. So far Senator Gaetz has been able to derail these amendments.
How you can help
Senator Bennett may offer another amendment. Call and email all representatives and senators in this state. Call and email them even if they are not your representatives. Tell them ARNPs can save the state hundreds of millions annually if allowed to practice at full scope. Direct them to the December OPPAGA memo (Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability) paid for at Taxpayer expense that shows this savings. Tell then about the IOM report that proves ARNPS deliver safe high quality care. Don't be shy. Your efforts will help.

CAP-PAC Works Closely with Rep Campbell
to Obtain FTC Opinion
|
CAP-PAC worked closely with Representative Daphne Campbell RN of Miami to seek a Federal Trade Commission opinion on HB 4103.. HB 4103 would have removed the added restrictions placed on ARNPs in 2006, forcing many clinics to limit hours or shut down. In an invitation for comments on HB 4103 filed by Representative Daphne Campbell on behalf of CAP-PAC. The FTC Office of Policy Planning Bureau of Economics Bureau of Competition urged the Florida legislature to "avoid maintaining provisions that would limit ARNP provision of health care services more strictly then patient protection requires." and to extend this recommendation to physician assistants as well. Despite the opinion, HB 4103 was not placed on the agenda. Rep Campbell vows to continue fighting for ARNPs. Thank you Rep Campbell!
