FL AANP UPDATE

Posted almost 11 years ago by Stanley F Whittaker

Dear Florida AANP Members,

I want to thank you for being members of AANP and supporting the important work of the Association. My name is Susan Lynch and I am the new Florida AANP State Representative.

This year will be an important legislative one for Florida NPs. Last year we saw historic legislation for full scope independent practice with DEA License authority pass the Florida House. A similar bill granting DEA licensure passed its first committee in the Senate. Never before has any ARNP bill dealing with DEA authority been heard in any committee nor was a full practice authority bill ever introduced.

It is not a matter of IF we ever get Full Practice Authority; it is a matter of WHEN. The more we work together, the louder our voices, the sooner it will happen. We expect another historic year for the upcoming legislative session. To those of you who have worked for many years on these issues, I salute you and thank you for your efforts.

I will be speaking along with Representative Cary Pigman MD at the Florida Association of Nurse Practitioners Annual Conference in Daytona Beach August 8-9, 2014. We will be discussing strategies for success in the upcoming legislative year. One of my hopes is to visit local NP groups and universities and speak about the issues. If you would like me to come and speak to your group, university or conference please let me know.

In addition to the issues in Florida, AANP continues to work on the national level to remove practice barriers. Please look for updates and action alerts on these items.

Together We Can BE Victorious!
