A brave family nurse practitioner and Air Force Captain has opened up about how her quick-thinking saved six comrades after their compound in Afghanistan was struck by enemy rocket fire. Captain Jennifer Curtis, 38, of the 75th Medical Group at Hill Air Force Base was on her very first deployment to Firebase Chamkani in 2011 when the camp, on lockdown, was attacked by mortar. The only medic on site, she courageously dragged the wounded men to the medical facility and tended to their injuries alone for 20 minutes until help arrived to transport them to the Bagram Airfield trauma centre.
